Know your stone

Seven surfaces. One honest guide.

Every material has a personality. Here is the plain-language version of what each one loves and what it needs, so you can choose what fits your lifestyle.

Natural stone

Granite

One-of-a-kind slabs formed over millions of years. The everyday workhorse of natural stone.

  • Excellent heat and scratch resistance
  • Hundreds of colors, no two slabs alike
  • Periodic sealing keeps it protected
  • Outstanding value
Natural stone

Quartzite

The look of marble with hardness closer to granite. Nature's showstopper.

  • Dramatic, unique veining
  • Very hard and heat tolerant
  • Occasional sealing recommended
  • Premium natural choice
Natural stone

Marble

Timeless, classic, unmistakable. Best where it can age gracefully.

  • Iconic veining and soft glow
  • Softer surface, can etch with acids
  • Ideal for baths, fireplaces, low-wear areas
  • Beauty that patinas over time
Engineered stone

Quartz

Man-made from crushed quartz and resin. The easy-care favorite for busy kitchens.

  • Non-porous, never needs sealing
  • Consistent patterns slab to slab
  • Brand warranties vary: Cambria, Silestone, Vadara, Crescent, Element Stone
  • Avoid direct high heat and outdoor sun
Ultracompact

Dekton

Sintered under extreme heat and pressure. Practically indestructible surfaces.

  • Extreme heat, scratch, and stain resistance
  • UV stable: works outdoors
  • Great for outdoor kitchens and high-traffic homes
Ultracompact

Revolux

Another ultracompact option with striking looks and heavy-duty performance.

  • High resistance to heat and wear
  • Contemporary large-format looks
  • Ask us to compare it with Dekton in person
Natural stone

Soapstone

Soft to the touch, rich and dark. A warm, characterful surface people are asking for more and more.

  • Naturally non-porous, no sealing needed
  • Heat resistant, ages to a deep patina
  • Softer, so it can scratch and mark over time
  • A timeless, understated look

Design the details

Edges, sinks, and the finishing touches.

The details make the countertop. Pick an edge profile that fits your style, and choose a sink from us or bring your own. We will guide you through both at template.

Edge profiles

Nine ways to finish your stone. Tap your favourite and we will carry it into your quote.

Pricing is per linear foot and is subject to change. A miter edge is quoted per linear foot with the rest of your job, since it builds up the apron rather than just profiling it. Some colors are not true body, meaning the cut edge does not match the face, and those need a miter so the pattern carries around the edge. We will flag it when it applies to the color you pick.

Sink options

Our best selling kitchen and vanity sinks, in stock. Or bring your own and we will cut for it.

Prefer your own sink? No problem, just have it on site for template day.

Backsplash

Add a matching stone backsplash. Take the standard 4 inch, or tell us the height you want it built to.

A full backsplash normally runs to the underside of the wall cabinets by the length of the counter, which is around 16 inches in most kitchens and over 20 in custom homes. Vanities come with a 4 inch backsplash as standard.

Each preview is one of our own kitchens with the counters and a four inch backsplash shown in that stone. It is a guide, not a rendering of your room: colour and veining change slab to slab, which is why we walk you out to the actual slab before you commit.
